Our Sons As Well

“I am the enemy you killed, my friend.” Wilfred Owen’s ’Strange Meeting’ reminds us of the human cost of the Great War. An evening of poetry and writing from and about a conflict which affected millions - men and women, parents and children, sweethearts and lovers: Europeans of all
nations, Indian soldiers of Empire on the Western Front as well as Mesopotamia, Turks and Anzacs at the Dardanelles.

The monument at Gallipoli reads - “your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well.”
